Christina Aguilera had stayed relatively out of the spotlight prior to making her comeback with empowering new singles âAccelerateâ and âFall In Line.â Six years since she last released an album and two kids later, the songstress phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Friday, May 18, and shared with Ryan that sheâs ready to break free from her comfort zone.
âItâs so exciting,â she said of her eighth studio album and accompanying tour. âIâve never toured being a mom before. Itâs one thing and Iâm breaking free of this kind of comfort zone and this stagnant place Iâve been in kind of because I was a little afraid to break the mold having my children and everything I wanted to be in one place for them. Iâve kind of been afraid of this idea of touring but I was like, âJeez, Iâm not doing anyone a service here. Iâm doing a disservice by not doing what I was born to do on this earth.ââ
The âAccelerateâ singer, who is mom to son Max, 10, and daughter Summer, 3, dropped the initial single off of her first new album in six years, Liberation, earlier this month and has since released empowering collab âFall In Lineâ with Demi Lovato.
âIt kind of has been a mutual respect thing for a while,â Aguilera shared with Ryan of working with Lovato, who has idolized her for years. âIâve noticed from afar what a support sheâs been and Iâve appreciated the kind words and they seem genuine too. She seems like a genuine girl. She came from her own past and struggles and I have so much respect for someone that comes from a past and becomes strong and overcomes and thrives out of it. Sheâs just a bright, intelligent and sweet girlâs girl and great young woman,â she gushed. âWhen we first connected we were just like little silly girls ⊠sheâs like the dark-haired version of me ⊠it was just like a lovefest.â
The duo are next set to perform their fiery, feminist track at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 20, and Aguilera will be performing all over, joining forces with Outkast's Big Boi for a run that kicks off in Hollywood, Florida.
