Passengers got quite the scare earlier this week when a flight taking off from Charlotte Douglas International Airport was in the air for only minutes before making an emergency landing. The American Airlines flight was headed to Chicago with 180 passengers on board.
The engine on the right side of the aircraft had caught fire, which many passengers could actually see from their seats.
"Almost immediately, you could start seeing flames coming from the engine,” passenger Mark Ponder said.
The plane returned to the ground safely with no passenger injuries. All were booked on another flight that left for Chicago just before noon on the same day.
