Eminem's Concert Sound Effect Brings Criticism!

Eminem has been criticized for using a sound effect at the end of one of his songs that some concert goers claim sounds like a gunshot. The sound effect comes at the end of “Kill You” from his 2000 CD titled “The Marshall Mathers LP.”  The criticism came during his performance at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival held in Manchester, Tennessee.

According to reports, many fans ducked and screamed when the loud blasts rang out. The reaction came at a time when concert goers are still on edge after the violence that occurred last year at a country concert held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Social media star Andrea Russett said that, despite being an Eminem fan, “To hear a gunshot sound effect and see the entire crowd drop to the floor out of instinct is not funny, cute, or amusing.”

A spokesman for Eminem told “Billboard” that Eminem does not use a gunshot sound effect, but rather “a pyrotechnic concussion which creates a loud boom.” The spokesman also said that Eminem had used this effect following the song for over 10 years without a complaint. So, considering the climate we now live in, is the sound effect appropriate or not?
