Syracuse University Frat Permanently Suspended After Racist Video Scandal

Last week, Syracuse University's Theta Tua chapter was suspended following the release of multiple videos where members were using racially insensitive language.

One of the videos was made public by the school's independent newspaper, The Daily Orange, and "showed members of the engineering fraternity using racist, ethnic and sexist slurs while pretending to perform sexual acts on each other," ABC News writes.

Chancellor Kent Syverud described the videos as “extremely racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, sexist, and hostile to people with disabilities."

The videos were also shared in a private, secret Facebook group called "Tau of Theta Tau".

Yesterday, Chancellor Syverud announced that the chapter of the fraternity has been permanently suspended, and 18 members have been removed from their classes. "Alternative classes and study arrangements" have been made for the students.
