HITS 96.1 and Make A Wish of Central and Western Carolina have teamed up for “A Summer Of Wishes-FUNdraising Challenge” and we need YOUR help! This summer, bring hope to waiting wish kids and celebrate the impact of wishes that our local community have helped grant.
Meet HITS 96.1 Wish Kid Mauro. Wish kid, Mauro, was even more excited for his Walt Disney World® wish trip when he learned that he could visit more than one park! Like many 12 -year -old boys, Mauro loves playing outside, Legos and video games. Unlike many young boys, however, Mauro has congenital heart disease. Despite living with a pacemaker and undergoing many life precautions, Mauro is an incredibly active kid who likes to help with his younger siblings and grandparents, and in the kitchen. For Mauro and his family, his wish trip to Florida was jam-packed with adventure, as they visited Magic Kingdom®, Animal Kingdom®, Disney’s Universal Studios®, and SeaWorld®. “Paradise!” is what wish parent Paula called Give Kids the World Village®, the non -profit resort for families of critically ill children where they stayed. Despite the pandemic delaying his wish trip more than two years: “It was worth the wait!! Mauro, his brothers, stepdad and I had the time of our lives!!!”
