You can watch the new video for the Muse song Panic Station below. It is not the original clip.
The band uploaded the original video, which features members of the band in Tokyo, Japan. It was intended to be a light-hearted video.
But, the band used Japan's "Rising Sun" flag in the intro. The flag was used by the Imperial Japanase Army and Navy until the end of World War II. Now, the flag is a symbol of Japanese imperialism (it was the flag they flew when they bombed Pearl Harbor).
Muse, apparently, meant nothing by the flag and promptly removed the video from Youtube when various commenters complained about the flag's inclusion. They tweeted an apology and have uploaded a new version of the video without the flag's image.
Sorry for the mistake re the intro graphics for the Panic Station video. We are fixing it now. We will upload a new version very soon.— muse (@muse) April 22, 2013
